Lullabies for desi babies

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I've been wanting to blog forever and have had a million ideas floating around my head, but I had to take a short hiatus because I just had another baby! My baby girl Tarini was born December 15th, 2011 (10 days ahead of schedule) and it's been a strangely smooth experience so far. It was a quick and easy delivery, she's been a fairly good sleeper, she's nursing well and my older kid has adjusted beautifully ... at least so far. We've also had lots of family and help around, so we'll see what happens when it's back to just us.

Anyway, now that I have a baby girl, I've been able to sing some of my favorite Hindi lullabies, such as:

and

Yeah, I get my lullabies primarily from Waheeda Aunty. But that made me think about other lullabies and of course a list started brewing.

Here's some of the ones that immediately came to mind:

Surmai Ankhiyon Mein from Sadma
(and the original - Kanne Kalaimane from Moondram Pirai)

Chanda Hai Tu from Aradhana

Do Naina Aur Ek Kahani from Masoom

So Jaa Mere Raj Dulare from Kathputli

Ahista Ahista from Swades

Aaja Re Aa Nindiya from Do Bigha Zameen

Aaja Aaja Re Nindiya from Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan Series

Also on my most sung lullabies list - Chhote Chhote Taaron Se from Sangeet, which I couldn't find on YouTube, but was only on this slightly shady looking site: http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/SkHoM06C1GM/

I almost forgot about this one, which my sister reminded me about -

Chandi Ki Dori from Saajan Ka Ghar

And I can't believe I didn't think of this one right away!

Koi Mat Jariyo from Gopal Krishna

What are your favorite lories/lullabies from Hindi films? And don't tell me "Lalla Lalla Lorie Doodh Ki Katori" because I refuse to put that on my blog! But I'd love some new ideas of songs to sing to the new baby ...
